This offer is worth mentioning because normally you never find a deal like this.
To get miles that actually count towards a rank advancement you must either fly on a paid ticket or spend a lot on a credit card that is offering those miles, usually the airline’s own credit card, such as the American Express Delta Credit Card.
(My wife and I were both able to earn 25,000 MQMs from a credit card offer with American Express last October).
Hertz is offering two different deals for Delta SkyMiles. Your personal situation will depend on which offer works best for you.

Now until the end of November you can earn 250 Delta MQM miles from hertz, plus an additional 250 regular miles. MQM miles are the miles that actually count towards a rank advancement. Meaning that if you have 24,500 MQMs for the year and its almost the end of December, if you do not reach the next threshold, you will lose your airline status.
With Delta these are the status qualification levels:
- Silver – 25,000 miles
- Gold – 50,000 miles
- Platinum – 75,000 miles
- Diamond – 125,000 miles
If you are close to a rank advancement then the 250 MQM deal is probably right for you. Towards the end of the year its always best to keep track on how far you are for either keeping your status or if you are close to a rank advancement.
For instance, if you have earned 49,500 qualifying miles with Delta, then renting a car right about now should be on your agenda. You would be 500 miles away from earning the next status with Delta.. Gold.
But if you know you won’t be close to earning the next level or close to a rank advancement, then go for the 3,400 airline miles.
Be sure you research each deal fully as Hertz will give you more miles for renting for longer periods of time.
